In 2009, Hassan Allam Construction was awarded a USD393 million deal to build a vast pipeline and other related infrastructure to supply raw water to the Sixth of October City water treatment plant. The project will be financed by the Government of Egypt.
The 6th October network will run partly through the desert but also through densely populated areas where Hassan Allam Construction has the technology and the expertise to work safely and without disrupting the lives of local communities.
The 6th of October project involves building the intake, booster station and pipe laying to supply the 1.60 million m3/day 6th October City Water Treatment Plant with raw water. Both the intake and booster station will have 12 pumps of 1.5 MW capacity each. The piping spans 118.5 km of steel between El Badrashain and Dahshour. The project also includes underground water tanks and auxiliary buildings. Construction of the project began in January 2010 and is expected to last 36 months until 2013.
